Paul Carus (1852-1919), was a writer and publisher. He was an organizer of the first Parliament of the World’s Religions, held at the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair.” See The Paul Carus Award for Interreligious Understanding.
He served as editor-in-chief of the Open Court journal, which published between 1887 and 1936. It was “devoted to the science of religion, the religion of science, and the extension of the religious parliament idea.” One has to wonder whether any of these articles might also have been used as source material. Most of it is available online through SIU’s Special Collections Research Center, if anyone wants to check. Run searches that include “Open Court.”
