February 11 has become associated with a transitional, honored, and celebrated date during the history of the Urantia revelation. These are the passages associated with that development.

(123:2.1)  In something more than a year after the return to Nazareth the boy Jesus arrived at the age of his first personal and wholehearted moral decision; and there came to abide with him a Thought Adjuster, a divine gift of the Paradise Father, which had aforetime served with Machiventa Melchizedek, thus gaining the experience of functioning in connection with the incarnation of a supermortal being living in the likeness of mortal flesh. This event occurred on February 11, 2 B.C. Jesus was no more aware of the coming of the divine Monitor than are the millions upon millions of other children who, before and since that day, have likewise received these Thought Adjusters to indwell their minds and work for the ultimate spiritualization of these minds and the eternal survival of their evolving immortal souls.

(123:2.2)  On this day in February the direct and personal supervision of the Universe Rulers, as it was related to the integrity of the childlike incarnation of Michael, terminated. From that time on throughout the human unfolding of the incarnation, the guardianship of Jesus was destined to rest in the keeping of this indwelling Adjuster and the associated seraphic guardians, supplemented from time to time by the ministry of midway creatures assigned for the performance of certain definite duties in accordance with the instruction of their planetary superiors.

Interestingly enough, February 11 started to show up in the unfolding of the Urantia revelation before the date was actually shared as part of Paper 123.

In preparing this Topical Study, I worked with numerous documents that can be searched for on UBhistory.org. (Looking up “Norson” under Search Terms will help.) Kristen Maaherra’s and Mark Kulieke’s efforts were especially helpful. Also, thanks to Larry Bowman for sharing information. Some aspects of the history do not seem to have definitive answers.

1923: The Forum, which eventually would become the First Urantia Society, meets for the first time, according to Larry Bowman. In 2023, this 100th anniversary was celebrated by the First Urantia Society. Kristen (Maaherra) Michael’s account, indicates January 25 as being the start date. (See top of page 6.) However, this was not a Sunday, but February 11 was a Sunday, which is the day the Forum met.

1924: The Contact Commission is formalized. Following an inspection by Tabamantia, Machiventa Melchizedek announces that an epochal revelation is to be developed utilizing the process of communication which had been refined in conjunction with the midwayers since 1911. Up to this point, contacts had been with midwayers and student visitors.

1935: The over-all welfare and direction of The Urantia Book is placed in the hands of the Seraphim of Progress for 500 years, according to this document.

1952: For at least the next 100 years, the immediate fostering of the revelation is entrusted to the Seraphim of the Churches, acting through a special commission created for this purpose. See link above.

1954: The human aspects are to be placed in the hands of the Urantia Foundation trustees. The over-all welfare and direction of The Urantia Book placed in the hands of the Seraphim of Progress for 500 years, except that for at least the next 100 years, the immediate fostering of the revelation is entrusted to the Seraphim of the Churches according to Mark Kulieke.

1955: Formal arrangements for publication of The Urantia Book are made by Urantia Foundation. Special meeting notes.

Paper 124: The Later Childhood of Jesus. Section 5. His Thirteenth Year (A.D. 7)

(124:5.3)  It was about the middle of February that Jesus became humanly assured that he was destined to perform a mission on earth for the enlightenment of man and the revelation of God. Momentous decisions, coupled with far-reaching plans, were formulating in the mind of this youth, who was, to outward appearances, an average Jewish lad of Nazareth. The intelligent life of all Nebadon looked on with fascination and amazement as all this began to unfold in the thinking and acting of the now adolescent carpenter’s son.

(124:5.4)  On the first day of the week, March 20, A.D. 7, Jesus graduated from the course of training in the local school connected with the Nazareth synagogue. This was a great day in the life of any ambitious Jewish family, the day when the first-born son was pronounced a “son of the commandment” and the ransomed first-born of the Lord God of Israel, a “child of the Most High” and servant of the Lord of all the earth.

Note the proximity to Jesus’ Bar Mitzvah.

[On a personal note, my father, Marcus Katzen, alav ha-shalom, was born on February 11, 1940. His passing on December 4, 2022 inspired getting after this study aid.]
